DORY EMORY -- 17 -- RAVENCLAW
full name: Dory Larkspur Emory
nicknames: Dor
age: Seventeen
birthplace: West London, England
blood-type: Half-Blood, Part Veela
sexuality: Heterosexual
schooling: Ravenclaw
year: 7th
ambition: Editor-in-Chief of the Daily Prophet
likes: shakespeare, studying, the library, ancient Egypt, swimming, old black and white movies
dislikes: quidditch, shopping, elitists, giving advice, failing, her looks, people staring at her
strengths: studious, friendly, excels at transfiguration
weaknesses: short sighted, easily overwhelmed, fairly horrid at potions
biggest fear: ending up old and alone - she fears no one will love her for anything more than her looks
prized possession: her mother’s copy of Romeo and Juliet
personality:
Shy: Above all, Dory is shy. She's more than content to spend time alone in the library without having to interact with anyone. She's funny when she's brought out of her shell though, people just have to get to know her enough to do that.
Brave (but the pen is mightier than the tongue!): Dory is brave through her writing, if nothing else; she finds it easiest to speak her mind when she can write it down instead of telling someone something. She writes notes a lot - although she doesn’t often send them to whom they’re meant for.
Hopeless-Romantic: Dory tends to hide this from other people, but in reality, all she really wants is to find a nice guy and settle down. She’s always wanted that. She’s extremely sweet when it comes to this aspect of her personality, but unfortunately, being such a romantic sets her up to get hurt a lot. She also finds it hard to find someone who’s not just after her Veela looks.
Dorky: Dory is a class one, regular ol’ dork. She’s not afraid to show it either once you get to know her. She would rather be reading a book then off at a rave or party. She knows a lot about the passages and history of Hogwarts. And most importantly, She loves jokes and pranks.
Temperamental: Dory has a bit of a temper, it stems from her Veela blood, and once she’s mad about something, she stays mad for quite some time. It doesn’t take much to piss her off.
mother: Gayle Marie Emory -- Healer -- Deceased
father: Unknown
grandmother: Madame Janielle Voiler -- raised Dory & Alma
siblings: Alma Emory -- Gryffindor, 5th Year
Dory grew up in a semi-stable home in West London with her Mother, Gayle, and her younger sister Alma. She grew up reading as much as she could, whenever she got a spare moment, and has always been interested in the pursuit of knowledge. From a very early age, she asked a lot of questions and demanded answers from those around her. She grew up always staring out the window to pass the time, dreaming of things that were bigger than herself.
When she turned 10 her mother was in a fatal car accident and passed away, leaving Dory and Alma motherless and confused. Luckily, they were taken in by their one surviving relative; Their Veela Grandmother, Madame Janielle Voiler. Dory was reluctant at first, she had never met her, and she had read terrifying things about the Veelas. But finally, she agreed to go. She came face to face with her grandmother and had never seen anyone more beautiful. Every movement, even though her grandmother was 80, was graceful and full of poise. She taught her what it meant to be Veela, to use your looks to your advantage and manipulate others. Although Dory didn’t believe any of this at the time, she began putting more effort into her appearance and eventually blossomed into the beautiful girl that she is today.
When she turned 11, she was sent to Hogwarts where she was sorted into Ravenclaw. Since then, she has been trying to stay under the radar, preferring to spend her time alone in the Library, even though her Veela good looks often get her into trouble.
