Winter was such a miserable season will with frozen winds,
small talk with family members you hadn’t seen since the year before, horrible
hot chocolate and couples being bundled up together kissing and sharing each
other’s warmth. Ian had his bag filled with books like normal already cramming
for the rest of the school year. He always liked being three steps ahead of
people because it was always easier to understand something better if you
already knew it. This was how he spent his wonderful summer month studying;
well that and working at the book shop. 

 

Ian wanted to get to get to a warm place and read all the
books he had just checked out. He cut around a corner quickly and felt his foot
slip from under him. He flew into the air and knew there was nothing to do to
save himself as he hit the floor with a loud smack and sat up quickly. He
rubbed the back of his head as he looked around at all the books that were on
the floor. “I loathe winter,” he muttered under his breath. He started to pick up his books hoping that no one stepped on his hands as he picked the contents of his bag.

The thing with Scotland was well the winters here where wretched. TRULY a dimension of the pits of hell. He hated the snowy months of Scotland and normally he would spend his holiday months abroad, places where the only thing frosted was the drinks. Sadly that was not the case this year he was officially an adult in his father's eyes which meant he was expected to take on the responsibility of a man that was an heir.

That meant two things.. Job, and Family Affairs.

He had been successful in his obtaining of a respectable job taking the lead for international gaming for the wizarding world was a dream come true being a former pro quidditch player and enthusiast he was a natural.. Currently when he wasn't planning such events as the world cup he was tripling his money by buying out various quidditch suppliers.

Sadly it wasn't his job that sent him to Hogwarts no it was the other of his responsibilities. Handling of Family Affairs, his father sent him to go speak to Sloan Avery himself to find out what his little half sister was currently doing to get herself into trouble.

Being summoned as he was it didn't take him long to hear that Sloan was up in the library, finding this odd as the two when in school rarely were found there, but for the sake of his job Alastair didn't doubt it was possible. Turning the corner he found himself catching hell from a professor who lit into him for smoking on grounds as it was not permitted. He of course offered his apologies for her offense but didn't bother with putting his smoke out. Continuing on he turned the corner and was there just in time to watch a Ravenclaw lay himself out in a avalanche of books.

Well this is more like it should be.

Leaning over him he rubbed his black arched brow , chuckled, and offered his non-cigarette holding gloved hand.. "Trying to off yourself? You know there is better ways than attempting to stone yourself with borrowed reading material?"

Sloan had his hands very full all of a sudden dealing with the dissrespectful Half-Sister of his old school chum Alistair Urquart, A pesky Auror or two.So Sloan had retreated to the library to get ahold of some books he had heard had been hidden by Deatheaters During the orginal Attack on Hogwarts.He had searched high & low & from pew to pew but was unsuccessful in his hunt for a knowledge he desperately needed,this had infuriated Sloan so he grabbed his long black coat from the arm of the chair in the stacks and stormed through the rows and as he reached the head of the library he saw an ravenclaw boy scurry out the doors with arms filled with dusty scripture.

As Sloan made way out the exit of the library he saw the ravenclaw boy laid out on his back Sloan stood ominously over the boy and said"well now that's was quite the little trip" and then Sloan chuckled deeply as did so he heard a familiar voice offer aid to the clumsy ravenclaw boy.When Sloan looked up to see the face that matched the familiar voice he saw his oldest friend standing before him.Taken back by the appearance of a ghost from his past Sloan also offered aid to the young boy and then said" you should really watch where your going".Sloan then turned to Alistair and belted " By Merlin's Beard " Sloan went on to say "it's been quite sometime since I've last seen you,how've ya been?"

Whilst Ian was picking up his books he heard two voices one telling there were easier ways to kill him and the second greeting the first. He looked up putting the books in his backs and pushed himself off the ground and fixed his clothing and squared off his shoulders. “No, I’m not trying to off myself,” he said flatly. “Hello, Professor,” he turned to the second voice. “Just getting my reading catch up its better to know the material before you learn it,” he said with a smile.

“Just trying to get the best marks I can,” he looked at the professor. “Thank you both for offering your help but I have everything,” he shifted his bag to a comfortable position on his shoulders. It was at that time that he realized the first voice was smoking and cigarette and felt his mouth go dry. He was not one to allow rules to be broken but he also knew not to sound like a jerk and uptight to people who were older then he was. Instead he faked a cough and covered his mouth looking at the cigarette.

Alastair forgotten how monstrously annoying the Ravenclaws where, least till that moment. When he came face to face with a walking talking reminder of what it meant to be in school where their was a whole house dedicated to the sheer purpose of being a book chasing bore.

Granted not all of the lot was like this deranged and obsessed with the task broadening of their minds, had they all been that way the bloody lot would have died out ages ago. Mainly because for them to be able to procreate, they would needed a mating rituals that including clubbing someone over the head to force them to relinquish the bloody book.

No thankfully for Alastair there had been a few select birds that had the sense to put the book down and enjoy a night or two of living.. However as the boy in front of him who chose answered Alastair flatly in a tone that suggested that he possibly knew humor as well as he knew an intimate touch. Taking another deep drag he eyed Sloan who played the part of a professor well it seemed, to the point he was a bit perplexed with why Sloan was having a bit of problem with his half sister..

He of course was curious to see exactly what Little Auggie had done.  Naturally he had an assumption as to what the owl letter had been about, truthfully  he figured it had something to do with her mouth as it seemed from the few times they had interactions she had that nasty trait of believing that just because she had an opinion that it meant she was obligated to share it.. Sadly it was something they were still working on with the newest member to their family.

His critical glance flickered back to the boy being pulled up by Sloan.. His eyes narrowed a fraction as his nose wrinkled as smoke that seeped from his lips bellowed forth and danced in the stale air around them. Bet he is going to do something exceedingly Ravenclaw.. Talk about studying, or Wanting to Study, Reading a book..I give him ten seconds before he does it.. TEN. NINE.EIGHT.SEVEN......

Alastair smiled victoriously as the boy within four seconds declared he was attempting to get caught up in his reading, so he could know the material before class.. For all things MARKS. Merlin that is like TRIPLE POINTS.

Looking at Sloan he chuckled openly.. " I swear they haven't changed at all. Still chasing that illustrious O." Looking at the kid he offered a slick smirk. " I'm sure you will do amazing in your class no doubt you have both the Rubric, and Syllabus memorized for all your classes.." A thought flickered to his mind.. " Do you tutor? My sister is is barely passing Potions.. She poisoned her last tutored by accident mind you.. but regardless we are in need of another.."

Looking at Sloan he smirked.. " Dad will be pleased killed two birds with one stone.. Speaking of birds needing a good stoning.. What has she done this time.. It wasn't your owl her bloody cat ate was it?"

His eyes flickered back at the kid as he heard the coughing. OH bloody hell? HE IS ASTHMATIC, and a Rule Follower.. Merlin I think this is the who the bloody hat weighs kids up against when trying to rule for that bloody house.. Suppressing the urge to ask the kid if he wore glasses or did a corrective eye site charm.. He with a long dramatic sigh pulled the Cigarette his lips taking that long last drag he hissed softly.. " Sorry forgot certain rules." Eyes Sloan with a telling smirk.. " Don't know how you go a bloody day without lightening up something more than some good old Clove and Tobacco.."
