Think about it.
We all know about the SPARTANs. We've played them in the majority of Halo games, and read about their exploits in most of the books. We've seen the Master Chief go against hordes of Covenant by himself, and watched as Noble Six defied all odds to get the job done. We know of their heroism and their superhuman qualities.
But what exactly do we know about the Marines? They've always been in the background. They're there. But, have we honestly paid them much attention? Have you ever thought about what it's like to be in their shoes?
The Marines are the underdogs of Halo, and sometimes the unsung heroes. Sergeant Major Avery J. Johnson was a Marine who survived both Halos and sacrificed himself for humanity. Private Richard Jenkins was just an average Marine tossed into extraordinary circumstances, and yet he was partially responsible for preventing the Flood from escaping Installation 04. Gunnery Sergeant Reynolds was one of the Marines who aided in the rescue of the Master Chief in Halo 3, and defended Crow's Nest when it fell under heavy Covenant ground assault.
You get the point.
Halo: Oscar Company is a brand new Play-by-Post Role-Playing Game where you jump into the boots of Halo's underdogs - the UNSC Marines - during the most trying times of the Human-Covenant War. We're exploring a time period before Reach fell to the Covenant and Halo was discovered. Before the SPARTANs were widely known to exist as humanity's great heroes. Before the SPARTANs, humanity had the rough and tough Marines to look up to as its heroes.
Marines don't have energy shields, motion trackers, or super strength and abilities. They're just regular men and women fighting in a war no one asked for, but, were tossed into the middle of because there was absolutely no other choice.
Fight or die is the reality they face on a daily basis.
Some Marines are volunteers while others are conscripted; they hail from all walks of life and grew up in different places. They were brought together under a common goal - the survival of humanity - and are willing to sacrifice everything to succeed to that end. They may not possess biological augmentations or have had advanced military training since a ripe young age; but, they have heart and a willingness to die for the man or woman beside them.
Halo: Oscar Company RPG is designed to go where no other Halo RPG has gone before, and to provide a fun, and fresh, experience for the avid role-player and fan of the Halo Universe.
