Hogwarts Moon Quidditch Rules Okay guys, these are your Quidditch Rules! Read them, and read them well! If there's anything you don't understand -- ask -- don't just post and hope for the best! 1) Quidditch Matches will be using dice rolls. Look for the button to insert your roll. It will pop up with 'Range:' when you click it - make sure to check this thread for what values you need to include! 2) DO NOT edit your posts under any circumstances. Editing a post will result in the dice roll changing, and even if you are only posting to fix a spelling mistake, we'll assume you are trying to get a better roll. For anyone who edits their post, their roll result will be disqualified from the round, and will be scored as the lowest possible value, regardless of what is shown on the dice. 3) A commentator will set up the match and tell you (via dice roll) who gets the Quaffle to start with and which Beaters have the Bludgers. You will then have three days to post with your character. In those 3 days we would expect to see 14 replies - one from each member of the two teams. Do NOT post more than once. After the three days are up, the commentator will score up the dice rolls from that round and post up the results, and will tell you who has the Quaffle/Bludgers for the second round. 4) You must include an action tag in your posts, along with your dice roll. These are crucial for determining the results. The person who starts the round with the Quaffle MUST either attempt to shoot, OR pass the Quaffle to another player. Failure to do one of these things will result in the ball being given to the other team. 5) Don't write as if you already know the outcome of a dice roll. It's all well and good for Chaser A to throw the Quaffle to Chaser B, but if the dice rolls determine that Opposition Chaser C has successfully stolen it, we've got a bit of a problem if Chaser B has already foddered receiving the ball. 6) Players WILL be getting hit by the Bludger. Keep it realistic. If you get hit in the shoulder you're not going to just fly on like nothing has happened. You've just been hit by a ball of iron hurtling through the air. It's going to hurt. And it's going to hurt for more than just one post. I repeat, keep it realistic. Where bludgers hit is determined by dice rolls. If you are hit in the chest or head you will be out for one round, regardless of what position you play. 7) Make sure you have a good understanding of what is expected of you before you post, and react to what others are doing in the game. Most of all, don't ignore the commentator. What the commentator says is determined by the maths of the dice rolls, and it's In-Game fact. Don't ignore it. But what is an action tag? What is an action tag? Well, it's pretty much what it sounds like - a tag in which you state your action. Basically, at the bottom of every post, before you post your dice rolls, you should post a brief summary of what action your are taking. A Keeper example may be (Defending the hoops!), while a Beater's tag might say (Hitting the bludger towards Chaser A!). Do you get my drift? The Chaser with the Quaffle MUST state whether they are shooting or passing, while opposing chasers must state whether they are attempting to steal the quaffle, or block other players, etc. Action Tags are important for the dice rolls to work out - we need to know exactly what you're doing! One of our team didn't post this round, what happens now? No post? No score. Unless they've posted a valid absence note saying why they are away, they will be given the lowest valued score. The same goes for anyone who tries to tamper with their dice roll. Don't try to delete your post and post it again, because we'll know if you do that, too! I'm a Beater and I don't have a Bludger/I'm a Keeper and my team have the Quaffle - what do I do? Interact with the match, and roll the dice anyway! Keepers, if the ball is in play down the other end of the pitch, there's really not a lot you can do. Beaters, on the other hand, if the Beater's WITH the Bludgers have already posted, you can then choose to block/hit their bludger. The Beater WITH the Bludger will tag their post (Directing the bludger at Chaser C) (as an example), to which you would be able to respond with (Redirecting Beater A's Bludger at the Keeper) or something like that. If you are redirecting it, make sure you state that it what you are doing. What do the dice rolls mean? Basically, they determined the results of your actions in the game. Are we going to tell you exactly what all the values mean and what the exact results of each number does? Nope! Just believe us when we say it's all extremely complex and mind-boggling, and it would probably scare you away from Quidditch if you saw it. It's the commentators job to do the dice maths, just trust them and let them do all the hard work! If for some reason you think there is an error or the results have been determined unfairly, you can PM someone about it. How does a match end? When the snitch is caught! How else? How is the snitch caught? Dice rolls. Go figure. Of course, this could lead to problems whereby the game could go on for aaaages, so to stop this from happening, if the seekers have not seen the snitch (dice rolls, sweeties) within 15 days, meaning within 5 rounds, the commentator will speed the process along and change the posting values that the seekers need to enter. Basically, you just need to pay close attention to the commentator and everything will run smoothly! You haven't told me what to roll! Just saving the best till last! Keepers - roll 1-16! Chasers - roll 1-10! Beaters - roll 1-12 AND 1-8 (two dice rolls at the end of your post - please specify which is which)! Seekers - roll 1-50! (The commentator will tell you if/when this value needs to change! Rules credit to @jae of Hogwarts Moon |
