The trophies shone as if a constant beam of light was being reflected against them, even when the halls themselves were dark in the early winter mornings. It was the weekend, and it was in the onset of winter so she had assurance that she would be quite alone wandering the halls of the school. Pulling her robes tighter around her to stop the chill that whispered through the silent corridors; Rose sighed heavily. There in front of her stood all the names of previous champions, previous students whose achievements had been recorded and presented to thousands still to walk through the same hallowed halls.
How she despised their glory.
As an only child, Rose was expected to have all the cunning, all the brains and all the determination to succeed at everything that came her way. Whether that be through her schooling and grades, to her many extra curricular activities. Her parents were not shy of showing their disapproval if she did not match up to their expectations, nor did they hold back their disapproving remarks to any and all who were around to hear them. It was their way of pushing her to be the best, to be better than all the other children around her. In the beginning Rose had taken it as their parenting technique, but as she grew through her years at Hogwarts she realised this was not the case and the attention she received was out of love, but out of malice for not being the heir produced as was anticipated.
"This year, I'm going to get my name in one of these cabinets. " She said, resting a hand on the glass of the trophy cabinets.
