Note: These suggestions will work best when we get more members, but it never hurts to be prepared.
So, I've mentioned that I run a dueling club on another site, and it's something that works really well and most members are involved with excitedly. This club matches members up based on a number of factors and creates a plotted scenario in which they are dueling. During these duels, all creature powers are ignored, and members are forced to use their with with spells from the HP books. There are a series of smaller duels which are unranked, and then there is the big Deathmatch each year where players compete for rank and glory. These dues are judged on spelling and grammar, creativity, flow of writing, and overall quality. I already have a lot of literature prepared as to the etiquette of dueling and things of that nature.
Also, since all of us here are obviously writers, there are bound to be several with an interests in journalism. On the other site, a few members volunteer or apply to run the Daily Prophet. The editor and co-editor of this paper hire writers and graphic-makers to help in creating issues of this paper that they will PM to all their subscribers when they complete one. They usually write articles about things going on in the site plot, and they often include IC interviews with characters to get their take on the matter.
Both these things add to the community dynamic of the site, and give members more of a chance to showcase their abilities as creative, helpful contributors to our wonderful site.
Thoughts? Additions? Improvements? Rejections?
EDIT: OH! And I also like the idea of a monthly Roleplaying contest. Two or three people would run this system where there's a topic every month, and people submit a one post submission that will be judged. The winner will be named RPOTM (Roleplayer of the Month) and have some fort of feature (picture posted at the top of the site, or a custom title for the month. Something along those lines).
